<c>Begris' Adventure Journal - Preface</c> Dear adventurer! You may have just cracked open this book, but before we face the perils of the wild, allow me to introduce myself. My name's Begris, a young dragon from Dragon Isle. Everyone says I'm a "restless" fellow—while my brothers and sisters diligently studied Dragonspeak magic, I was always sneaking off to listen to the wind, the earth, and the rivers. My teachers loved to say: "Where has Begris wandered off to now?" Maybe my fate was sealed from the moment I first hatched. My parents were away on a quest at the time, and the first sight that greeted my eyes wasn't their faces, but the wonder of nature itself. Hah! You probably can't picture it, but by the time they returned, little me had already made a makeshift camp from mud, and though I hadn't even learned to speak, I was already gathering berries in my little den for food. As I grew older, I became more and more of a "wild child." Before other children learned to light campfires with magic, I was already striking sparks from stone. And while they still clung to their parents, I was hiding alone in the underbrush, watching the migration of jungle beasts. That's right! You guessed it! Nature was my earliest and wisest teacher. I roamed every corner of Dragon Isle, living off insects in deep ravines and pitching camp in the eye of raging storms. I brewed hot soup using lava and skillfully traversed swamplands. I've left footprints on every peak of Dragon Isle, spending more of my life in the wilds than under a roof. So when I finally scaled Dragon Isle's highest peak, I thought I had seen every wonder the island held. But then the moment came that changed everything—for both me and the isle itself. Dragon Isle reawakened to the outside world. More and more of my fellow Draconis began venturing into the outside world, returning with fascinating tales that awakened my curiosity about the lands beyond our isle. Yet leaving the home I'd known all my life wasn't simple, even for someone as adventurous as me. For a while, I felt utterly adrift. After my coming-of-age ceremony, I still hadn't found a proper path. Having neglected my magic studies, I wasn't ready to take on demanding quests like my parents. Though they were understanding, I couldn't shake the thought that maybe I should follow a more conventional path. It was then that my dear friend Nyla, who had long been journeying through the mortal world, brought me a remarkable book—"Guide to Adventure in Esperia" by Mr. Gretel Hawke. Hah! I tell you, it truly opened up a whole new world for me! Mr. Hawke's descriptions of Esperia's landscapes and traditions leapt off the page, and I felt as though I were there. Gretel Hawke became my hero. And I finally found my calling—to become an explorer who could journey across the world! I swore to leave Dragon Isle and follow in Mr. Hawke's footsteps. I would see every place his book described, scale every mountain I could find, and carve out my own adventure. Dear friends, you might be wondering why I would want to write such a journal when the great Mr. Gretel Hawke has already created "Guide to Adventure in Esperia." First, I hope to share a different view of Esperia through the eyes of a Draconis! For thousands of years, the Draconis have remained secluded on Dragon Isle, cut off by various circumstances. Neither the old nor the young among our kind know much about the outside world, and most have never glimpsed mortal books. I hope my writing can serve as a window for my fellow Draconis to understand the vast world of Esperia. Second, my book will include some content which may surprise you. While Mr. Hawke's work focuses on describing local attractions and specialties, I intend to draw upon my strengths and share practical survival techniques to help you better explore the natural world. Lastly, I'm writing this book for myself as much as anyone, to record my unforgettable experiences and leave a mark that I was here. Yet, as I write this preface, my journey hasn't truly begun yet, as my daring promises are still waiting to be fulfilled. Of course, I'm eager for the day this book is finally in your hands. It may not be soon, but that day will surely come. <r>Your faithful friend, Begris.</r> <c><line></c> "Hahaha, that's a pretty decent preface!" Begris closed his journal and stretched with a great yawn. At that moment, he was camped on the face of a sheer mountain cliff, his tent suspended by a single anchor bolt. The slightest movement could send him tumbling into the abyss, but Begris paid it no mind. This was the first peak he would conquer since leaving Dragon Isle. His adventure was only beginning, and his journal had barely finished its preface. Little did Begris know, as he teetered on that cliff edge, that he was about to meet his idol and dive headfirst into a thrilling survival adventure... But of course, that's another story waiting to be written.
