One day, Aurelia appeared in her finest attire upon the mountaintops. The residents of the sacred mountain knew that she was preparing to attend the Harvest Festival in the mortal world. But when Flora heard about it, she couldn't resist the idea of joining in the festivities, so she begged Aurelia to take her along. Aurelia smiled and agreed, leading Flora through the wilderness, deep forests, canyons, and riverbanks. They walked until Flora's legs were aching, and she began to complain. Exhausted, she asked Aurelia how much longer it would take to reach the Harvest Festival. Aurelia simply told her to look back. When Flora turned around, she realized that everywhere they had walked, spring had begun to stir: thunder cracked the sky, the tides started to rise, and new buds sprouted on the branches. Aurelia then told Flora that only when the warmth of spring arrives on time can there be an autumn harvest and a festival to celebrate the hard work of the people. It was then that Flora remembered she had neglected her duties, causing spring to arrive late. Aurelia, with a clever trick, had managed to restore hope for the harvest across the land. Across the empire, almost every parent tells this story to teach their children that rewards come from hard work. Aurelia oversees the harvest and withering of autumn. She is often seen as a gentle, loving, and witty goddess. However, according to the Record of Ancient Events—a little-known text documenting stories from the first bard in Hathor—Aurelia was quite different when she first took on the responsibilities given to her by Dura... When Aurelia first descended to the mortal world with the Horn of Plenty, the farmers were in the middle of their hardest work. She blew the horn, and the crops in the fields instantly bore fruit. A year's labor was rewarded in an instant, bringing great joy to the villagers. They quickly harvested the crops and enjoyed a bountiful yield. To thank the goddess, the villagers held a spirited Harvest Festival. Aurelia was immediately enchanted by the joyous celebration. She joined in singing, dancing, savoring delicious treats, and receiving warm thanks from the people. Aurelia was sincerely grateful to Mother Dura for giving her such a delightful duty. The following year, when it was time to spread the harvest once again, Aurelia wasn't complacent. From the mountains to the riverbanks, she diligently sounded the Horn of Plenty. But when she arrived at the farmers' fields, she found the villagers in despair. It turned out that an outbreak of pests had devastated the crops, and despite the villagers' hard work throughout the year, the fields were sparse and barren, barely enough to sustain them. Aurelia couldn't bear to see the villagers go hungry, so she blew the Horn of Plenty with all her might. The sound, filled with Dura's magic, echoed across the land, and a miracle occurred. The withered crops began to revive, and the fields soon turned golden. The villagers were overjoyed, and despite the challenging year, they had a decent harvest. Once again, they held a Harvest Festival in Aurelia's honor, thanking her for blessing them with a plentiful yield even in difficult times. Aurelia was delighted, as she had eagerly anticipated this festival all year, enjoying the love and praise of the people and the rare joy found only in the mortal world. Before she left, Aurelia promised the villagers that she would return the following year: "Thank you for this festival. I will always ensure that your crops bear abundant fruit." In the third year, Aurelia returned to the village. From afar, she noticed the village was brightly decorated, with villagers lined up to welcome her. "Has the festival started early this year?" Aurelia wondered as the villagers warmly welcomed her. But as she looked closer, she saw that the villagers were dressed in rags, and many of their homes had been stripped of wood to decorate the festival. Even the plates at the banquet were empty. "What's going on?" Aurelia asked the villagers. They flattered her, saying, "Lady Aurelia, the Harvest Festival is ready for you. Please blow the Horn of Plenty." It was her duty, after all. But when Aurelia reached the fields and prepared to sing the harvest song, she was met with a desolate sight. The fields were overrun with weeds, grasshoppers, snakes, and rats. There wasn't a single crop to be found in the once fertile land. "I can't do it. Even the Horn of Plenty can't make crops grow where none exist," Aurelia said sadly. It turned out that the villagers believed that simply holding a festival to please the goddess would guarantee a harvest, so they had become lazy and neglected their fields all year. When Aurelia said she could do nothing, despair filled the so-called "Harvest Festival". Aurelia was heartbroken, unable to help the villagers. Aurelia returned to the mountaintops and tearfully told Mother Dura about the tragedy. Dura gently wiped her tears and said, "Aurelia, remember this well. Both gods and humans are my children, and both can make mistakes, but your responsibilities carry greater weight. The relationship between effort and reward is one of the world's most basic yet complex principles. To help people suffer less, you must guide them well." Even gods aren't born perfect. From that day on, Aurelia understood that simple honesty and kindness weren't enough. She began to learn about the complexities of human nature and the personalities of the gods. She remembered Dura's advice, and to this day, Aurelia continues to guide humanity and the younger gods with wisdom, preserving Dura's legacy. The relationship between cause and effect is more intricate than it appears. No one understands this better than Aurelia. —Orthros
