Witnesses claimed they had seen the beast attack and drag the victim. The evidence seemed clear, and the villagers were ready to slay the packbeast where it stood. But Haelia, raised in a family of inquisitors, sensed something was off. The packbeast was known for its gentle nature, so why would it suddenly turn violent?
