Miss Dalia had passed away. They buried her next to the family plot, but the funeral was rushed. Her husband, a well-known and wealthy merchant, couldn't even be bothered to give her a decent tombstone. But Miss Dalia came from one of Bantus' noble families, so among her burial items were some valuable trinkets and exquisite clothes. Yet, once the mourners left, her husband ordered the servants to strip most of it away. After that, no one came to visit Miss Dalia. Every day, Bronn tended to the flowers by Miss Dalia's grave, carefully wiping her tombstone. Through all the seasons, her resting place remained pristine. Bronn and Miss Dalia were strangers. Years ago, when Miss Dalia's older brother passed, she didn't realize his death meant the noble Bantus family lost its last heir. This funeral marked the beginning of her tragedy. As a child, Miss Dalia loved flowers—she even climbed onto the funeral wreath to look closer at them, a disrespectful act in front of her brother's grave. But before her mother could reprimand her, Bronn's cry diverted everyone's attention. The gravekeeper's adopted son tripped and fell onto the still loose earth, ruining the flowers at the edge of the grave. Amidst the crowd's laughter, Miss Dalia's mother's anger turned toward him. After the funeral, the gravekeeper forfeited his meager payment, and Bronn was thrown into solitary confinement. It was a familiar situation for him. The cramped cell felt like a coffin, locking his life within the cemetery. Growing up among the graves, Bronn had no friends. Gradually, he lost his childish cheerfulness, becoming taciturn in the gloomy surroundings. His adoptive father was strict, and there was no affection between them. Adopting Bronn was merely to ensure someone would take over the cemetery. From a young age, Bronn assisted his father with cemetery duties and after his father's passing, he became the new gravekeeper. Miss Dalia was only remembered by her husband years later when, due to political turmoil, he lost everything and decided to visit her grave, perhaps to see if there was anything of value left from her burial. This impatient man brought a group to the cemetery, urging Bronn to open his wife's grave. He claimed he missed her and just wanted to see her again. But in front of everyone, Bronn, usually quiet, rebuked him for being a hypocrite. He pointed out that the man had never visited Miss Dalia and that his "devotion" was a joke. Some of the creditors that accompanied her husband had been moved by his "devotion," but now they all sneered at him. The man angrily accused Bronn of ruining his plan. He could only continue searching their old mansion, hoping to find something valuable. This reminded Bronn of his last encounter with Miss Dalia. When her parents died, she inherited their failing business and, following their wishes, married a wealthy merchant who coveted her noble status. After all, it was the only way to maintain her noble image to the outside world. Late one night, during a routine patrol, Bronn found Miss Dalia alone, mourning. In the quiet cemetery, Miss Dalia was no longer the playful child she was during her brother's funeral. She had lost her family and knew her husband didn't love her; she felt like a burden. She confided in Bronn, expressing her loneliness and confusion. She felt as if she couldn't trust anyone now. Perhaps leaving this world to join her family wouldn't be so bad after all. Bronn wasn't good with words. It wasn't until dawn that he finally said what he wanted to: "Keep going... Everything will get better." To Bronn, Miss Dalia was like a blooming flower, splendid and beautiful, deserving of a better future. Miss Dalia smiled bitterly. As a fallen noblewoman, she recognized her inevitable descent. She just hoped that day would come later. Bronn didn't know what "dignity" meant until he drove away her husband; only then did he understand. With the prince launching a coup, the Bantus Empire was shrouded in the shadow of death. The overwhelming number of dead made Bronn's work overwhelming. But even exhausted, he still carefully tended to Miss Dalia's grave, and the flowers in front of it bloomed brilliantly, as if timeless in their beauty. Amidst the chaos of war, some displaced refugees gathered near the cemetery. Desperate to survive, they resolved to dig out treasures from the graves to sell. With only Bronn as the sole gravekeeper, he grappled with the relentless presence of grave robbers. Yet, he could do nothing but patrol tirelessly, driving them away both day and night. Someone claimed there was a noble family's tomb in the cemetery, which stirred the grave robbers into a frenzy. That night, they found the tombs of Miss Dalia's family. They vandalized them, leaving nothing valuable behind. Miss Dalia's tomb was the next target, after all, a tomb that had been tended to must have someone special inside. The thieves defied Bronn, digging up the flowers around the tomb, yet when they open the tomb with high hopes, they find the coffin empty. Seeing a coffin without a single thing in it, they accused Bronn. Seeing as how her tomb was so well-tended to, the thieves believed Bronn was lying to them and had kept the goods to himself. But no matter what, he refused to reveal any information, even after being brutally beaten. The enraged grave robbers tortured and beat Bronn before burying him alive. After all, no one would care if he was alive or dead in these troubled times. And this was how the disappearance of Miss Dalia's body was discovered, but no one cared anymore. The war became increasingly brutal, and the grave robbers gradually disappeared. They could have died anywhere in this kingdom, and no one would bother to bury them. After who knows how long, the "reborn" king led an army of Graveborns back to Bantus, and the slain were bestowed with new identities. Bronn woke up from the mound of earth, observing the changes in himself with disbelief. In a daze, he returned to the now dilapidated shack and gradually came to his senses as the wooden boards creaked underfoot. He hurried to the carpet, pulled it aside, and opened the hidden compartment underneath, revealing a precarious ladder. Below was a dim corridor, and at the end of the corridor, a small room flickered with dim light amid the thick dust. With each step, Bronn's nerves grew taut. As he entered the dusty room, he hurriedly lit a candle. The flickering light filled the space but couldn't dispel the eerie aura reminiscent of a tomb: faded curtains hung over the dressing table, broken mirrors offered no reflection, and despite the layer of dust, the elegant jewelry remained meticulously arranged. The body of Miss Dalia should have been lying on the carefully made bed, but now only decaying linens, rotting silk and thick dust remained. He fell silent for a while, then left the room and returned to the already dilapidated cemetery. Miss Dalia's grave, neglected by him, blended in with the rest. Silently, he brushed off the heavy dust from the tombstone and carefully traced the name engraved on it. It seemed to be his final connection to Miss Dalia. Unwilling to leave her amidst the ruins, he pulled the tombstone out of the soil and bound it to himself. It was his way of ensuring he wouldn't lose her again. From then on, Bronn could often be seen dragging the tombstone around in the darkness of the night. Each time he ventured out, he brought new tombstones to the cemetery. No one understood his motive, but perhaps he was simply searching for a flower amidst the desolation, a tribute to Miss Dalia, who had never truly belonged to him.
