Whenever the Ordnance Chief of Bantus is mentioned, the Graveborn would only refer to him as "The Bonesmith" in reverence. Very few know there's an old manual in the corner of his bookshelves, with a barely legible signature of "Ivan" on the cover. Its discernible inside pages contain the following notes. Work #1, Day 1: Got settled in this small town today. What a wonderful place it is! So many children, simple folks, and everyone is kind and intrigued about me, a new puppet maker. After years of apprenticeship, I finally have a workshop of my own, rather plain, though. But I'm confident in my craftsmanship. I'm sure every child in town will have their favorite puppet soon. Of course, I'll be making all of them. Hah! ... Work #117, Day 12: Luka, the puppy, found a goat's leg bone today. Looking at it, I was suddenly overwhelmed with inspirations! Building the joint like the femoral socket might just solve the problem that's been haunting me! What a good dog! And I'm astounded by such marvelous skeletal structure of goats. So, could it be the same for human bones, perhaps even better? Heh, what am I thinking... ... Work #524, Day 2: The pastor came to see me today and rudely forbade me from approaching the cemetery behind the Holy Temple in town, all because of unfounded rumors! Andy's parents watched it unfold, glaring angrily at me the whole time. Unbelievable, given little Andy was buried with the puppet I made for him in his arms. Luka is no longer useful. I must get more components. ... Work #1744, Day 41: I can't imagine how my master would feel about what I'm doing, but on top of carving with every tireless chisel stroke, the secret technique I learned from the wanderers near the cemetery also contributed to my creation of intricate puppets, ones even better and livelier than his. Well, at the cost of some secular risks, that's all. I was exiled from the small town, but I didn't care, for it did not impede my working progress. I'm becoming more skilled, and each of my works exhibits greater perfection than the last. What I need... Are just things people would never need again. ... Work #2589, Day 1: When was the last time I ate? Those damned bounty hunters injured me enough that I can't feel my left leg anymore. They barged into my ritual and saved the orphans. I'm sure the kill order from Heresy Inquisition will reach every inquisitor very soon. Now, I'm running out of time and forced to move that concept up the schedule. But if I succeed, it could be a magnum opus for the ages. I finally understand that no one in an ignorant, corrupt state like Lightbearer would ever appreciate my art. I'm desperate, but I must try. ... Work #2589, Day 397: Whenever I eliminated an inquisitor, I'd collect their blade. These so-called sacred blades rang out when I crossed the shady borders of Bantus, announcing my arrival to the realm of Graveborn. No Graveborn stopped me. They made way for me with awe and respect in their eye sockets. As for the whispering necromancers... I knew the supreme masterpiece, the puppet shell in which I was reborn, was the object of their obsession. Learning of my presence, The Fallen King ordered soldiers to lead me to the Court of Bantus, where my skills and aesthetic shall finally find a home. "Those who couldn't be my audience ultimately became my work of art."
