83.4 Convenes on average for a featured 5★ Resonator, 55.6 for a featured weapon. And 29 of 36 featured Resonators have already had more than one banner.

A featured 5★ Resonator in Wuthering Waves costs 83.4 Convenes on average. A featured 5★ weapon costs 55.6. The difference is entirely the 50/50: the Resonator banner has one and the weapon banner does not. The other number worth knowing before you save is how often Resonators come back. Of 36 featured 5★ Resonators, 29 have led more than one banner.

All four Convenes share a 0.8% base 5★ rate. Pity lifts the three main Convenes to 1.8%, which is one 5★ every 55.6 Convenes. The Novice Convene is the most generous at 2.4%, one 5★ every 41.7.

Why the Resonator costs more than the weapon

On the Featured Resonator Convene, a 5★ has a 50% chance of being the featured Resonator. If you lose, the next 5★ is guaranteed to be featured. On average that means pulling 1.5 five-stars for each featured one. 55.6 Convenes per 5★ times 1.5 gives the 83.4 average.

The Featured Weapon Convene gives the featured weapon on 100% of its 5★s. There is no roll to lose, so the featured weapon costs the same as any 5★: 55.6 Convenes on average.

A featured Resonator averages 83.4 Convenes. Their featured weapon averages 55.6. That is 33% less, at the same rates.

That affects how you split a budget. If you have enough for a featured Resonator plus a bit more, the weapon is the cheaper, more predictable purchase, and the Resonator is the part that carries the risk. Plan for the Resonator's average first, and treat the weapon as a fixed cost on top. Together, a featured Resonator and their featured weapon average 139 Convenes. That is the figure to save towards if you want both from the same banner.

Who comes back, and who never had a banner

The Convene Banners page lists 77 Resonator banners across 36 different 5★ Resonators. Most have been featured more than once, and 12 have led 3 banners each:

For planning, that means missing a Resonator's first banner is rarely the end of it. Most featured Resonators have returned at least once. If you are short of Astrite when a banner starts, waiting for a return is a real option for most of the roster. Check how many banners that Resonator has already led before you decide.

The bottom row is the exception. Calcharo, Encore, Jianxin, Lingyang and Verina have never led a banner. They are 5★ Resonators without a featured Convene of their own, so no banner has ever raised their odds. Out of 45 5★ Resonators, that leaves these 5 and the 4 Rover forms as the only ones never featured.
