The world's greatest and most famous consulting detective. The embodiment of truth-seekers...the very concept of a detective. He is the main character of the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle between the 19th and 20th Century, and a detective who investigated and solved countless mysteries. He is one of the original inspirations for various other detectives in other mystery novels that followed... Or so the story goes. The truth of the matter remains a mystery...

Height/Weight: 183cm, 65kg Origin: Sherlock Holmes Series Region: England, Worldwide Alignment: Neutral-Good Sub-Attribute: Star Gender: Male Supposing he manifested from his tales, he might possess elements not only from Doyle's stories, but from those of other authors as well...or so one of Chaldea's staff speculates.

A man who is thoughtful yet decisive, daring yet grandiose, and always calm and collected. No mystery, crime, or intrigue can confound Holmes. Whether it be a terrifying murderer, an ancient curse, a monster in the dark of night, or an international secret society...he will always uncover its secrets, and if necessary vanquish it, for no blade is keener than the truth. His existence is beyond mere humanity, and he can even be considered to be a manifestation of a wise man and a truth-seeker.

Gift of Insight: A++ The ability to seek the truth of things. The sharp eye overlooks nothing. While the principle is completely different, this skill grants the user foresight on the level of the Clairvoyance skill. Baritsu: B++ An eastern martial arts technique used for practical combat. Sherlock Holmes combines this skill with boxing in combat, and he is also versed in countering and throwing moves. Under the right circumstances, it could even be used as the special move equal in power to revealing the True Name of a Noble Phantasm...

『Elementary, My Dear』 Rank: B　 NP Type: Anti-Personnel/Anti-World The Noble Phantasm Sherlock Holmes gained when he manifested as a Servant. A Noble Phantasm that sublimated the concept of investigation, the very source of his being. Even if the mystery he faces is unsolvable, clues and paths leading to truth will always come to light. Even should he come across a treasure chest with no key, the key is not lost, but rather is bound to be found somewhere in the world. (However, the key does not, of course, spontaneously appear in his hands. Holmes must discover the key wherever it may be, alone or with the aid of another.)

Normally, this Noble Phantasm is of a type that is always active, but in FGO, the True Name must be revealed. The moment the True Name is revealed, a mysterious sphere appears, emitting a blinding light that illuminates its surroundings. Enemies are weakened, while allies are strengthened. Even if there is an enemy that normally is impossible to defeat, Holmes will discover some means to do so. As a side note, while this NP's True Name is one of Holmes's best-known phrases, it first appeared not in Doyle's work, but in the stage play written by, directed by, and starring William Gillette. Doyle praised Gillette's Holmes as remarkable, better even than his own stories. By the way, Holmes actually does use the word "elementary" in Doyle's short story "The Adventure of the Crooked Man." It's said that is where Gillette derived his inspiration.

The Heroic Spirit Holmes does not take the form of Professor Joseph Bell (said to be the inspiration for the character Holmes), nor Doyle himself, nor of the world's first detective by the name of Detective Vidocq, but rather that of the main character (at least, an individual who acts exactly like him) of the Holmes stories. Are the stories of Sherlock Holmes a complete fabrication by Sir Doyle? Or could they be a biography of a real-life Holmes, recorded by Dr. John H. Watson? Or something in between? Holmes himself should be very well aware of it, but seems unwilling to go into detail, and should the topic ever come up, he evades it gracefully without fail.
